Our Journey

The group achieves charitable status and becomes Bipolar Edinburgh, allowing more flexibility in responding to the needs of the local bipolar community.
2007
Lothian Bipolar Self-Help Group is founded, providing a safe space for individuals affected by bipolar in the Lothian region.
2021
After stead growth, we expanded our services to include specific groups for young adults (18-30) and carers, as well as offering online options for flexibility.
2022
2023
Launch of the Bipolar Peer Support Service in partnership with Penumbra Mental Health, offering free one-on-one support for individuals with bipolar.
Chair Michelle is honored with the Self-Management Champion of the Year Award by the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland.
Awarded the Volunteer Edinburgh Ian McInnes Award for innovative volunteer efforts.
2025
We continue to expand our resources and network, ensuring that everyone affected by bipolar has access to the support they need.
Designer Lewis wins Gold at the Scottish Design Awards for Design Effectiveness for the coproduced Bipolar Edinburgh rebrand. [link]
